My Role: I support our board of trustees, fundraising team and our clinicians to help ensure we are able to continue to provide our service for local people, meeting the legal and regulatory requirements and making the charity the best it can be.
My Background: I worked for many years for a global IT company providing software for the airline industry, where one of my better known projects was the worldwide introduction of electronic ticketing. Then whilst I was at home with my young family I joined Kate’s for 6-8 hours a week to help out with the administration of the charity. Over the next few years my role developed and when the trustees decided that somebody should take responsibility for the overall running of the charity, I was lucky enough to be offered the job. I feel very privileged to represent Kate’s Home Nursing, to work alongside our team and to meet all the wonderful people who support the charity.
A little bit more: The children are more or less grown up so I spend my spare time training the dog, trying to keep fit by walking, running and doing yoga classes. I love ballet and the theatre, book club and socialising as much as possible.

Sue is the office manager for Kate’s, working both from home and in the office. She has a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and comes from an accounting/statistical background working in a number of different positions in these areas, from the Probation Service to a Private Fostering Agency. With Kate’s she is responsible for the day to day running of the office and supporting the CEO, Nurses, Fundraisers and Trustees in an administrative role plus some accounting work. She has worked for Kate’s for 4 years.

When not in work, Sue has 5 children, 3 of whom still live at home and is an active member of a local church involved in both CAP (Christians Against Poverty) and Alpha Courses.

My Role: I am the Clinical Nursing Manager and the CQC Registered Manager for Kate’s Home Nursing. This means I am responsible for the care our nurses provide, we get one chance to get care right for people and we strive to ensure this happens. I work closely with our CEO, Trustees and fundraising teams, although we are a small organisation together, we think big and achieve a lot.

My Background: I qualified as a nurse in 1995 at Barnet General Hospital. I worked in hospice as my first role in nursing and loved it, I have worked in various acute oncology (Cancer) nursing settings in London and Cheltenham. Since 1998, I have worked in the community in a variety of District Nursing and a Community Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist roles. For the past 11 years I have worked as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in general practice, working with patients with acute illness and specialising in the management of patients with frailty and palliative care. I have a special interest in research in nursing, Quality Improvement, Motor Neurone Disease and Clinical Supervision. In 2017 I applied to become a Queen’s Nurse and regularly attend local and national Queen’s Nursing Institute events.

A little bit more: when not at work, I love swimming and cycling and walking with my black Labrador Nevis.

I am a solicitor working full time as a partner at Kendall and Davies in Stow on the Wold, specialising in wills, tax, trusts, probate and powers of attorney.

My experience advising (amongst others) elderly and often unwell clients as well as considerable experience in advising families after someone has died helps me to understand and assist where required at Kates. I am able to use my legal background to recommend any lawyers who can provide specialist advice, should an issue arise. I am also very interested in the development of the bereavement programme.

I am known in Stow as the solicitor who brings her dog to the office. I enjoy travelling in the sun, a bit of sailing, theatre and cinema, bridge and generally socialising with friends as well as undertaking some more unusual classes such as Ancient Greek.

I am a fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and ran my own business in the South West of the UK based in Plymouth, Exeter and the South Hams until 1992 when I moved to the Cotswolds. I have been involved in charities for many years both with Plymouth and North Cotswolds Rotary Club and more recently with Kate’s.

I am a past captain of Naunton Downs Golf Club, hence my main hobby is golf but I also enjoy most sports including cricket, rugby and tennis. I was also a county hockey player in my youth. We enjoy travelling and the wonderful countryside of the Cotswolds.

Asad, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, is the Director of Tayabali Tomlin, which he founded in the Cotswolds in 1993.

I was asked to join Kate’s over 10 years ago as the finance trustree and have been honoured to be part of a very local charity that has grown from strength to strength over the last decade. Our dedicated group of nurses supported so ably by Karen and her team has enabled the charity to triple the nursing care provided to our community in that period. A proud achievement and the foundation from which the charity can continue to grow and provide an invaluable service in the North Cotswolds.

A fan of most sports, Asad played cricket, rugby and hockey in his younger days, and is now an avid skier. He has lived nearly all his life in the UK, with his family originally coming from India via East Africa. His grandfather, who was practising law in Zanzibar, met Gandhi in 1930 – sadly a little before Asad’s time!

I qualified as a RGN ONC in 1984 and left nursing in 1991 to look after my young family. In 1996 I was asked by Carol Roberts, the district nurse, to join her and a group of others to help set up Kate’s Home Nursing (originally known as Kate’s Carers). I became a trustee and my main role within the charity is to focus on fund raising alongside an enthusiastic and dedicated team. I love being a grandmother and enjoy spending time with family, friends, our animals, walking, yoga, skiing and being part of a lively book club.

Qualified in 1993 from Bristol Medical School. Initially I worked in hospital medicine but then saw the light and trained as a GP! I trained at Stow surgery 21 years ago and then became a partner the following year. I have always felt it a great privilege and honour, as a rural GP, to be closely involved in patients ‘end of life care in their home’. From this privileged position I have been able to observe first hand the wonderful work that Kate’s do and hence I was very grateful to be asked to be a trustee. In my spare time I struggle to keep up with three sons and enjoy playing tennis and reading although with the passage of time, I think I’m more suited to reading about tennis!

Emma is married to Henry. They have lived near Stow-on-the-Wold for the last 25 years. Besides running a busy family with children, horses, dogs, garden, farm, etc., she is a property manager and Parish Councillor. She called on Kate’s for both her father-in-law and father and will always be grateful for the support she received. She is honoured to have been asked to be their President.

I am originally from Birmingham and have worked in palliative care since 2003. Initially I trained as a GP, moving to palliative care when I realised that was my true passion.  Since qualifying as a Consultant in 2009, I have worked in this specialty first in Somerset and then the  West Midlands , moving to live in Cheltenham in 2020. I now work in Gloucester Royal Hospital and the Sue Ryder Hospice, Cheltenham.
